Crossroads is a quasi-watchable but completely silly movie, but it's main function appears to be reminding us that for some reason, the definitive Robert Johnson movie has never been made
(that I know of.) I liked the
John Hammond joint, and I'd love to see a performance of
Love in Vain, but how has this story not been made on the big screen? The shit writes itself. I've been to the Crossroads
(tried to sell my soul to the devil, turned out it was an Arby's, "even better - I fucking LOVE Arby's!" I remember thinking), and it's spooky as hell. The creepy Delta plus one of the greatest, most mystical American tales ever? Camon, Hollywood!
