Smile, I'm an Asshole

I need to get over my obsessive need to use :) or ;) in every text or email I send people. No mater what I say or how well I know the other person knows me, I always pause before sending and think “you know…I should put a smiley here, so they don’t think I’m an asshole.” For fuck’s sake. I could text “Hey, you’re great, I’m gonna come over and give you $100,000” and if I don’t stick a smiley in there, I assume the person’s gonna misread my tone and go “jeez…what a fucking asshole!”
