Working on a Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

A coupla weeks ago I sat down to listen to Bruce's latest, Working on a Dream, streamlined on some site somewheres. Apparent;y I intended to "live blog" the listening, as I just came upon these "notes" I wrote. I cannot stand by these statements, as it looks as if I was half in the bag. And I petered out after six songs. And I ain't listened to since. But fuck it, here's some "thoughts" from that evening.

OUTLAW PETE
- opening music bit is awesome
- kinda Bruce by the numbers Outlaw Americana Western nonsense
- am i dreaming, or is the melody I Was Made for Loving You by KISS?
- choruses are awful
- interesting idea undone by shit, rote lyrics
- hmm. luckily, it seems to be a bout 8 minutes long. not just a "piss break," but a "does-anyone-have-a-magazine?" break.

MY LUCKY DAY
- slice
- should run the drums even more like "Then He Kissed Me."
- great verses
- did i get enough beer?
- chorus is blah, but Im a verse guy

WORKING ON A DREAM
- "Hi! We're a Wild, Innocent and the E Street Shuffle outtake from that Ileana Douglas music movie!!!"
- why does Bruce even write choruses anymore? Camon. Stick with verses. Your strong suit.
- Great organ
" "My hands are rough from working on a dream" Not mine. I've discovered a lil secret called "lotion."
- geez, this is dragging.
- I might need to go get some more beer.
- gettin saved right now by Roy O. stylings.

QUEEN OF THE SUPERMARKET
- Lionel Ritchie getting a paycheck here?
- oh, god...aisles and aisles... shopping cart????!?!skip. Bruce, just use the famous Happy Days grocery shopping scene instead of giving us this crap. This is embarrassing. Like Glory Days, but as a 50's housewife. Who sucks.

WHAT LOVE CAN DO
- sounds like Paradise, from The Rising
- which wasnt a slice.
- Max need to kick it into Ringo doing Rain gear. (ed note - "here"?)
- hmm. Bruce mentioning a train in a song. No shit, Table for 1? Ugh.
- Not a slice. Next. (even while trying to get Irish halfway through)

THIS LIFE
- again...this from that Iliana Douglas flick?
- I'm gonna get some more beer
- did Bruce write this while asleep? in a coma? dead? from a thousand years ago?
- ugh.
-ugh.
- ugh
- oh, god.
