Grrrr.

A coupla weeks ago HERE Matt Yglesias picked up on the argument that non-fiction books are needlessly padded and should be a lot shorter. A few months ago HERE and HERE I wrote the same thing; in particular, the sheer repetition and laundry lists non-fiction books can pummel you with can become absurd. This morning I started reading this joint; by the time I got to work I realized I had read 90 pages to find out what could be boiled down to a single sentence: unlike the white people they served with in the war and alongside in the factories, black people in the middle of the century had a difficult time obtaining worthy, affordable housing in Detroit.

Grrrr.
