This Day in Beatle History

September 11, 1964:
Concert at the Gator Bowl, Jacksonville, Florida, USA.
Jacksonville's officials had planned for a segregated concert -- just like everything else in town.  The Beatles said they wouldn't show up unless the show was integrated, regardless of how much money they'd lose in the deal.  The city capitulated and the show went on as scheduled.
Presumably, black people in Jacksonville responded by saying "hey, that's great!...wait, what are The Beatles?"

Oh look, another place you won't find black people: the ocean.  Way to go, guys.  Geez.
