Flipped into The Bad News Bears this morning, and it’s always bothered me that the Yankees’ Coach, who is painted as a douchebag throughout, all of a sudden has a huge problem with his son throwing at a kid. He’s enough of a jerk to slap his kid around on the mound, but is outraged the kid might strategically throw at a batter? Has never added up for me.

It's exactly because of his relationship with his son that he slaps him around even if on the surface that seems to go against his character. He rides his son hard because of his own insecurities and anger at the way his life is going. Plus, he's already mad at his son for disagreeing with him about how to pitch englebert (was that his name).
OK, I spent too much time on this subject.
