The Awakening

This morning I picked up The Awakening, figured it a nice leisurely Sunday read. I opened to the first page, which turned out to be a 20-page introduction I had no desire to read, but before I could turn my eyes away from the page I saw
Chopin does not allow us to forget that in killing herself Edna is acting badly towards her children.

Grrrrrrr. Thanks, asshole.

Actually, I think I read it in college anyways. Though as the famous saying goes: if you can remember the early 90s, and the mid-90s, and the late-90s, and the early-to-mid-2000s, up until your college's administration building burns down and you convince them that yes, you DID graduate, then you weren't really there.

I think we read it in Mrs. Kurczak's class. I wouldn't have taken a class with that Chick-Lit, Oprah-List-precursor hooey in college.
