At a press conference in Turkey, President Obama casually rebuked the old chestnut that the United States is a Judeo-Christian nation.
"One of the great strengths of the United States," the President said, "is ... we have a very large Christian population -- we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values."
I look forward to the hours that're gonna be wasted on the Senate floor demanding an apology. Boy, the outrageous indignation from the right will be so over-the-top, there's gotta be some way to score it, right? 10 points for fist-pounding, 15 for squeezing out some waterworks. Full-on Glenn Beck-ish crumpling into a heap on the floor and wailing to mommy, 100 points? Maybe Michelle Bachmann will win the gold medal and blow her brains out on the House floor in the name of America Equals Jesus. Looking forward to some fresh faux-outrage.
