Ah, The Mets

Credit where credit is due: only the Mets could lead the NL in batting average and still figure out a way to have the third-worst record. Coaching? Instinct? A sheer desire to baffle? Who knows?

Batting average is a lousy gauge of offensive prowess; barely correlates to runs scored and wasn't unique to the Mets' situation this year.

More telling of the Mets' poor record was 1) hitting the fewest home runs in the league by far; 2) WAY too many sacrifice bunts; 3) Shitty K/BB ratio from the pitchers.
