According to the autobiography The Pythons, Eric Idle had proposed the idea of a Holy Grail sequel in 1990. According to Idle, the movie would be about an attempt to bring the knights together for one last crusade, as a sort of self-referential statement about the Python group. Most of the team thought the idea to be reasonably promising. However, John Cleese did not want to do it, which made Idle realise that "[the group] would never, ever work together again," especially since Graham Chapman had died the year before.I realize that anything taken off Wikipedia, particularly passages about films made by comedians, must be taken with a grain of salt. But I find it amusing that Cleese's not wanting to do a sequel sounded the death-knell for the project and not, you know...the death of the guy who played King Arthur. Odd. The fucking Brits, eh?
