Over the years I've pointed out the fact that as college costs rise (including my awesomely-titled post COLLEGE FRUITION), the actual worth of a college education has dropped, leading to tons of parents basically paying a shitload of money for their kids to be babysat for four years, leading to a deluge of people shot out into the workforce and destined to become prey to the Peter Principle.
But now in this post from Yglesias I see it mentioned that tuition is free at Princeton if your family's income is under $120K. Which is the exact opposite of this problem. Which means it's worth telling your kid this little tidbit the day he starts kindergarten. And what I mean by this is it's probably a worthwhile investment to pay the kid's teachers off for all A's so he gets a free trip to Princeton. Or daily beatings to make the kid study like a lunatic. Or every time a kid gets less than an A+ on a test, he has to buy his parents a lottery ticket.
I'm about solutions, people.
