As you mothascratchas know very well, Do They Know It's Christmas is my superslice of superslices. And like everyone else on the planet, Bono's great singing on"well, tonight thank god it's them instead of you" has been a standout line, but has always made me wonder about a possible double meaning, one of which could be seen as slightly mean-spirited, definitely NOT very humanitarian. And likewise, Bono at first refused to sing the line. But as Bob Geldof says in this clip, that's the line that's supposed to hurt the most. (Just like "I played my best for him" in Little Drummer Boy - oh, no here come the Xmastime waterworks!!!! noooooooo!!!!)
