It's easy to make fun of Elvis at the end - he was fat, he wore ridiculous jumpsuits, and he did a little more karate onstage than you like for your average concert. But all I can remember as a kid is my mother shaking her head sadly whenever anyone made fun of him, saying over and over "that voice, he never lost that voice."

And, as this clip shows us only six weeks before he died, she was right. As the Aquarium Drunkard puts it: a honey-throated god.
