Black Comedians

In general, black people are funnier than white people (as I've discussed HERE.) And February being Black History Month, it makes sense that it's a good time to celebrate this fact, which HBO has taken upon itself to do by frequently airing the documentary  Why We Laugh: Black Comedians on Black Comedy.   When I saw the title, I was thrilled...but then something punched me in the back of the brain, and I worried "I wonder if...oh, I hope not"  and then my fears were realized when within minutes I was assaulted by repeated showings of the Wayans brothers. Not the FUNNY, AMAZINGLY AWESOME, WAY BEFORE THEIR OWN TIME Wayans brothers Keenan and Damon, but the INCREDIBLY UNFUNNY, DESPERATELY TRYING Wayans brothers, Shawn and Marlon. FUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!  All the hysterical black comedians in our history, and we can't get through 10 minutes at a time without checking in with these fucking idiots?  For fuck's sake.

Brothatime!! is the oldest of us, and many a time he has shaken his head in earnest, apologizing to me, Sistatime! and illWill for "sapping the gene pool." I feel like Keenan and Damon should do the same to their younger brothers. Somehow, someway, it has become conventional wisdom that if you're going to talk about black comedians, you have to sit around and talk to these two NONFUNNY idiots. They may be black, but they sure ain't comedians.
