As long as Southerners keeping playing up/falsifying (read the declarations of secession from all the states) the insignificance of slavery to the Civil War, I'm sure they wouldn't mind if a few regiments of National Guard troops from Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania came through and burned down everything pre-1865 still left standing. You know, finish the job.
And if SEC/ACC football isn't the most obvious ersatz microcosm of slavery that is still in existance, I don't know what is: "Git out on that field and run, boy. And here is the good, clean, smart, white boy who is gonna thow the bawl to ya'll. Now Roscoe, you and Flash go git me some biscuits."
I am a self admitted bigot towards all you folks from the south and, as a Hoosier, well aware of my own glass house :
