The Pacific

Bill Gallo - everyday when I see one of his cartoons in the Daily News I automatically assume it's a "classic" from the 50's. The 1850s. Always slightly shocked when it's a drawing of Jeter. This guy is so old he still thinks boxing is a sport for chrissake.
Bill Gallo, last seen on Xmastime's Surprised They're Alive List, has been reviewing each episode of The Pacific. He fought at Iwo Jimo, and served with John Basilone's brother George. Well, or sat around drawing goofy cartoons. Also brave!
Now comes another reality of war that I'm also familiar with: A Marine bends over a dead Japanese soldier and proceeds to knock out the dead man's death with a pair of pliers.
