Rain Watching

In watching Rain right now, I must say I'm as impressed re: how they're pulling off The Beatles' Liverpudlian accents (they're American) between songs as I am with the music itself.

Speaking of one of my All-Time Top ten Beatles slices, here's Rain which features arguably Ringo's best drumming, some insanely creative bass playing by Paul and such innovations as backwards recording and altering the speed of the tape. All in the perfect time for a great rock song: 2 minutes 59 seconds. Awesome.

And it was only a B side. Interestingly, the A side was Paperback Writer, which I wonder might have been the latest song they ever recorded that they played live in concert (barring of course the rooftop joint years later)?

I will always thank you for turning me on to this particular song. The best thing they ever did.

Great tune! Do yourself a favor, if you have not already, and get your hands on the mono remasters. They sound more like the Who on Paperback Writer, Daytripper, etc. And Sgt Pepper is incredible.

Mono Jerry. Mo---No!
