Growing Up.

My BFF Andrew Sullivan is having a shit-fit about progressives letting Obama's tax deal happen...

...the point is, it's a field goal. Of COURSE I want Obama to say eff you to the rich tax cuts, but is that gonna happen? No. Not even remotely.

So we take the field goal. We take the $600B in middle class tax cuts (that we know we won't get credit for) and we move on to a new set of downs. We set about moving the economy forward. But Sully's problem is he seems to wants a touchdown, or nothing. He doesn't understand American football - there's a field goal.

But, as I said here, the LAST thing you wanna do is turn the ball over.

As a progressive, it's not my job to be reasonable. But it it my job to keep reasonability in the right hands. The Worst of Obama is still the best we've had in a decade. Now it's up to us to keep pushing him. Keep pushing, pushing, pushing, pushing, but be adult about it. Keep pushing him for a 10, but live with a 6. Cause it's still better than a 0.
