Reading the profundity and elegance of the letters between Adams & Jefferson in their later years made me think of that great Greg Giraldo riff about the difference between letters written during the Civil War and the Gulf War. Centuries from now scholars will be oohing and awing over a similar correspondence between future versions of Jefferson and Adams that are stuffed with "LOL!" and "yr da shizz 4 realz, dawg!!" and such. One popular question I'm sure will be about what the hell a "h8er" is. Not that those guys will be any less intelligent than Jefferson and Adams, it's just a different time. Fascinating.
