Wild Thing

I had never heard of former Yankee pitcher Ryne Duren until I saw HERE that he's died:
LAKE WALES, Fla. (AP) — Ryne Duren, an All-Star pitcher known for a 100 mph fastball, occasional wildness and thick glasses that created an intimidating presence of the pitcher’s mound, has died at his winter home in Florida. He was 81.
Um. Hold on. Does that remind anybody else of a certain pitcher known for the exact same three things?

Wasn't it "Ryne"? I wanna say a writer somewhere acknowledged that some parts of Ricky Vaughn were based on Duren. My uncle always remembers seeing him pitch and noticing opponents were actually a little frightened.
