In Case You're Worried Your Kid Won't Grow Up to Be a Complete Asshole...

...your worrying days are over, since the Tea Party is offering Asshole Summer Camp:
The organization, which falls under the tea party umbrella, hopes to introduce kids ages 8 to 12 to principles that include "America is good," "I believe in God," and "I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable."
I dunno.  I can at least understand hiring an accountant to find loopholes and tax shelters et al to keep as much of your scrillah (part of which, I would think, would include tax-deductible charitable donations and the like.)  But someone's really gonna hafta spell out to me how teaching children to be defensive about being charitable shouldn't make me queasy.

And, it's not as if it says "The Government cannot force me to give to charities."  It says "to be charitable," which can come in countless ways.  Giving money, yes.  But it's also giving up a seat on the subway,  or coaching a Little League team, or letting someone else have the last piece of meat-lovers.  Yes, I know they mean "Money I've earned through hard work," but habits encouraged in one facet of life can easily leak into others.

I will say, the activities such as the "gold bars" and "European austerity" make me wonder if this is a lost Onion article.  Fucking christ.

On the contrary, Conservatives are certainly more charitable and PAY dearly at Tax time. FAR more than you realize. When the non working start PAYING taxes, they can complain about tax loops for the wealthy. As for charities, the wealthy want to be the ones wno determine WHERE the money is spent and how...And since when is it wrong to take advantage of GOVERNMENT tax laws which SAVE them money? What do you have against wealthy people being successful in business? I am fine by you when I am the underdog but watch me succeed in business and right away you want your cut...As if you deserve it. Don't you realize that these are the same people who are creating jobs for those who are not business minded or at least not daring or able to get their ideas off the ground? Should we all be less successful in order to ease your resentment or is it that you just want everyone to be at the same income level, per government policy...right. Wrong.
