One thing I'm getting tired of hearing about is how those most noble of Americans, Job Creators (anyone else we worship with those initials?), aren't hiring because they have "no confidence" in the economy right now; they're dying to hire people just to hire them because they're so patriotic, but instead they're wringing their hands and fretting because of a lack of "certainty."
I thought one of the reasons we fetishized capitalism was because of it's swashbuckling, risk-taking attitude? No? Apparently, crapitalists right now will only do anything if outlandish profits are somehow doubly confirmed as guaranteed 100%, gift-wrapped in a box from Baby Jesus. Otherwise, they're not going to bother. Meanwhile, the only entity that can guarantee things such as loans etc is the government.
But OH NO!! The government is anathema to capitalism, existing solely to destroy it!!!! Darn you government, with your insanely low taxes and egregious loopholes and refusal to regulate anything - if only you'd allow glorious capitalism to be unleashed!!!!
The government needs to show a sack and point out how much it's bending over backwards for these people, including begging to set up huge, badly needed infrastructure projects that would pump a shitload of $$$$ into everyone's pockets if it weren't so darn Eurofaggy, and tell the truth re: companies aren't scared at all, but are just more than happy to sit on their $2.5T in cash, buying each other's yachts and cackling with glee.
