A Chinese restaurant in South Yorkshire is rapidly losing patrons and may be forced to close its doors after nearly 30 years in business because of an urban myth involving dog meat being surreptitiously sold to customers.
According to Internet lore, a female diner choked on a greyhound identification chip while eating at the China Rose, inadvertently uncovering a plot to help local greyhound trainers dispose of dogs no longer fit to race.
Of course, none of that is true, but the rumor is so pervasive that reservations are down 20% as more and more people call to cancel upon hearing the tall tale.
