Like any NBA fan my age, particularly one who came of age at the perfect moment to witness the
Bird/Magic rivalry, I can remember where I was when Magic announced he had HIV. Or, as we carelessly called it back then, "the AIDS on his lips!": in Matt Lucas' dorm room hanging out. I can promise you that exactly zero of us imagined that 20 years later he'd still be around.
