NJ governor Rex Ryan has apologized for whatever stupid shit he said about the Civil Rights Movement.  In his defense, I must say I like his defending the use of the word "numbnuts":

He did, however, defend calling those who compared him to segregationists as “numbnuts,” explaining that his mother used to use the term for him. “Maybe I should have said ‘stupid, out-of-line,’” he suggested, after asking, “What’s wrong with “numbnuts’?

I'm sorry, there's just something funny about saying "what's wrong with numbnuts?"
