Bush is Back!

The George W. Bush comeback has apparently started; after a few years of him being happy to fade away and paint pictures of his nuts in a bathtub or something, the opening of his "library" in Dallas is coinciding with Republicans suddenly deciding that he was a good president after all:
Fifty-five percent of those questioned say Bush's presidency was a failure, down 13 percentage points since a CNN poll conducted in January, 2009, during his final days in office. Forty-two percent now say Bush's presidency was a success, up 11 points from when he left the White House.
That's a pretty big turnaround in only three years. And it doesn't explain why the GOP ran away from him like a turd in the swimming pool every time an election came around. Though it does explain a fairly dangerous refusal to accept any sort of reality. When a president's single greatest achievement is not allowing a foreign attack to happen under his watch other than of course the greatest one in US history, I don't think it should be difficult to admit he was a letdown. And yet here we are.
