I want you to put your hands together, your arms together, your asses together for the houserocking, pants-dropping, brain-shocking, earthquaking, booty-shaking, Viagra-taking, lovemaking, sexifying, electrifying, women shrieking, grown men crying, legendary E Street Band.…did I mention electrifying pants-droppers ?....”Bruce closed out his triumphant tour for The Rising at Shea Stadium, with Bob Dylan making an appearance:
"It was Bob’s work that, when I was first trying to write songs... at a particular time in our country's history, he was one of those fellas who came along and has been willing to stand in the fire. And I remember when I was growing up in my little town, he just made me think big thoughts. His music really empowered me and got me thinking about the world outside of my own little town. I don't know if great men make history or if history makes great men, but for me Bob's one of the greatest, now and forever.I remember 50,000 people going nuts when Dylan came out. Going nuts when they started playing. Then Dylan began to sing, and it went from 50,000 fans going nuts to the sound of 50,000 people collectively looking at each other and asking "what the fuck is he singing?" Finally, after a few minutes of 50,000 desperately wanting to like what was going on but had no idea what was really going on we all heard "Out on highway, 61..." and 50,000 voices broke out once again in both ecstasy and relief.
"But Xmastime", you say in the voice of Craig “Ironhead” Heyward from those soap commercials (RIP), “didn't you actually MEET Bruce 'The Boss' Springsteen??!?!?"
Sigh. Look. You people know that's just not the kind of shit I talk about. That's private, I just don't do that kinda thing. I mean, after all, some of us like to keep our private meetings with Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen and his mother and sister and Uncle Juan just that: private. Please respect my privacy. And Bruce's.
"I'm not joking, speak up. I'm 121 years old, motherfuckers!!"
