Walking to the park for softball on Sunday, it occurred to me that with consecutive numbers, the square of the second is equal to the square of the first plus the sum of those consecutive numbers. Then today somebody mentioned a frame being 9" x 16" and this occured to me:
(A+1)2 = A2 + (A + (A+1))
eg: 7 squared = 6 squared (36) + (6+7) = 49
(2 means "squared")
A2 x (A+1)2 = (A x A+1)2
9 x 16 = 144
(3 x 4)2 = 144
ergo
A x (A+1) = square root of A2 x (A+1)2
(Curtsy)
Course, I'll never be as clever as these guys.
