Here is John Lennon's ridiculous letter returning his MBE to the Queen, and no matter how many times I read it, exactly one of his reasons gets a genuine LOL every time. And then in Peter Tinniswood's delightful Except You're a Bird, I see this:

Dear Carter, just a line to let you know I am leaving you for good and all because I hold you responsible for the death of my son and my daughter and will you please remember to iron the tea towels after I'm gone.
