New York City, NYC

When I was a kid and would read about Bobby Thomson's Shot Heard 'Round the World I'd wonder "why the hell is this considered the biggest home run ever - heck, Mazeroski's homer WON THE WORLD SERIES!!!"

Of course, the second I moved to New York I got it. - XMASTIME
Even after that, my idea of a big rival was Yankees/Red Sox, or Yankees/Mets for a few days out of the year. But the Dodgers/Giants things has been burning forever:

A subway series? No, that 1889 championship between the clubs was 15 years before New York City’s subway existed. To put things in (ridiculous) perspective, they had already played each other 757 times when sliced bread was invented in 1928.

One thing that's always been funny to me is that while countless books and documentaries detail the anguish of the Dodgers leaving town, almost nobody bothers mentioning the goddam Giants did the exact same thing at the exact same time!! One minute you're fighting your buddies that it's Mickey vs. Duke & Willie and the next day. you're the only game in town. Whack.

Meanwhile, enjoy the best episode of Ken Burns' Baseball, about the Golden Age of Baseball in the Greatest City in the World. You're welcome, Earf!
