Why is when we want to convey how much we know something, we say we know it "like the back of my hand"? Does anybody really know that much about the back of their own hand? I don't know if I could pick mine out of a lineup - and wouldn't we know the front side of our hand more anyway? At least when we're extending something out to other people or using our hands while talking we might see that side of our hand. And when telling our fortunes, nobody looks at the back of our hands, they look at the front. So why is this a thing? Unless you're holding up your arm singing Stop! In the Name of Love, I really don't know how this became a thing.
Oh well. Hey, enjoy some Supremes for your troubles, people.
