I wonder how much trouble The Kingsmen would've saved themselves if they had switched the "me gotta go" to "we gotta go" throughout the song? I think the whole "me" instead of "we" thing threw a bunch of white people for a loop and they assumed the song was therein about something deep & naughty as opposed to really being about the same old shit as most other songs of the time.
