Ada Limon!

I mean I was already super-impressed with former Mrs. Xmastime candidate Ada Limon when she was an answer in the New York Times crossword and made the New Yorker, but now she's been announced as the 24th United States Poet Laureate so wow what can you say. Amazing!

VOILA:

“I think that we’ve lost our reciprocal relationship with the earth,” she said, “and poetry has the ability to draw attention to the natural world, even if it’s the tree in your backyard or the pigeon on the street.”

“It has the possibility to show us rage, to connect with our fear, to celebrate joy, to make room for the whole spectrum of human emotions,” she said. “Great poetry is the place where we come to get the strength to heal, to become whole again and to then recommit to the world.”

Now here's a picture of the two of us so that you people understand how much of a major part of this story I am.
