50 years later after they broke up and The Beatles still give and give and give...first to celebrate the super-release of
Revolver (THANK YOU THE BEATLES!!!) and now we have a full recording of John & Paul chatting the day after the release in August 1966 about the insane number of cover versions of their songs. Right off the bat, you get the two of them to a T: McCartney diplomatically tries to claim some of the covers are better than the originals while John rolls his eyes and tells him he's being ridiculous. This is YET ANOTHER THING FROM THE LAST 12 MONTHS that I can't believe has just been sitting around, with nobody bothering to point it out that we now get to enjoy. The interviewer actually asks them some really good questions about their songwriting partnership, fascinating to hear in 1966 during their absolute peak in real-time
Enjoy it HERE. You're welcome, Earf!
OMG UPDATE: about 12 minutes in you can hear who must be Paul's beloved sheepdog Martha, at only 7 weeks old! She of course would go on to be the inspiration for Martha My Dear and, tragically, outlive John Lennon. Is this the earliest recording of her??!?!?!
