I've just always loved this clip; first because since a few months had passed after Revolver with no music coming out from the band, the public was ready to pack it in, the press had a field day “oh well, they had their day, they’re over.” While there are many people that still would still love the old records, the general mood was “time to move on.” Of course the public was soon hit with Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane and then Sgt Pepper, and that was it for any “they’re done” talk.
Also, it's insane to think you could just hang out outside of Abbey Road and grab Lennon/McCartney for a quick chat.
Today in 1966, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr were asked if The Beatles would break up in the coming year while they were on their way into Abbey Road Studios to record the first songs on what would become "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band". pic.twitter.com/lwPza1aC1s
