It's almost impressive they can continue to surprise & amaze us, but in 2023 Republicans have become so absurd that we now find ourselves mumbling “well, say what you will about Trump but at least he's never tried to say slavery was a good thing for black people...”

And yes I know I'm setting myself up for the inevitable moment Trump says something even worse, probably about 3 minutes from now, but still it's just fucking crazy.
