Bankrobber

Oh wow I guess it's gonna be The Clash day! 🤗 Bankrobber was released as a single 43 years ago today, and it's just a stunning example of how great the band was. Only 2 years after their debut album of kinda-punk-by-the-numbers-but-great songs, they release this sprawling number that's astonishing in its sound while showcasing the band's eclecticism - touched on with London Calling and some say gone too far with Sandinista! - while also somehow conveying a sense of humor with the story's characters et al. It's an all-time moment by an all-time band. I've loved this song since I first heard it on their definitive 1991 box (boxed?) set Clash on Broadway.

Enjoy, Earf!
