Fucking Are You Kidding Me du Jour

We fought a war for independence in 1776 and the years that followed to prevent any person from declaring himself a king. Federal District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who has been randomly assigned the case, wrote in November 2021, in denying Trump’s claim to block the House Jan. 6 committee’s subpoena for Trump’s White House documents, that “presidents are not kings.” - Xmastime

This excerpt is not really a-propos of the article it's from other than to remind us that of all the amazing Americans we've had on our roster since 1776, all the wildly accomplished people we've had who've inspired us and will do so until the Earth collapses in to the Sun, Donald Trump is literally the closest we've had so far to someone becoming our king. All the great presidents, the men who put us on the Moon, MLK Jr; no no no, it's somehow Donald Trump who is as close as we've come to literally being declared a king. Incredible. Depressing.
