In watching the final season of The Crown zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I'm compelled to notice the similarity in the Charles & Diana survivor story with the Lennon/McCartney survivor story. Lennon being murdered so young spurred countless Beatles fans to turn on Macca while making Saint John a martyr for all things good and Beatley and it's taken McCartney decades to dig his way out of it - and before Lennon's death the two of them were probably exactly equal in the public's eyes. Meanwhile the public was already waaaaaaaaaaay more #TeamDiana than Charles, and so of course her being the one to die so tragically - and first - only spurred such feelings on, which are still felt today.
The opposite case? Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig; Gehrig had the sense to be the first to die young but the world still couldn't help but love that fat hot dog-eating poonhound even more & more instead. 🤔🤷♂️
