Xmastime Documentary TWO Thumbs Up Recommendation

I've always love love loved Albert Brooks but it'd never really occurred to me to find stuff from his old standup days. Frankly put, the few clips shown in the doc are an inspiration in their being 100% built on a mix of incredible premise and incredible commitment. Based on the comedy itself and a sense of autonomy from Brooks,  I could pick one comedy career to have had myself it'd be hard not to choose his.

To nobody's great surprise the only nit I have to pick is that the doc is too short, which would make this the first time anyone's ever said such a thing about a documentary. RUN to HBO or Max or whatever the fuck it is and revel in this brilliant brilliant brilliant man's career!  🤗🤣🤣🤣

On a slightly side note, as I bitched about recently on Egg Foo What?! I don't get why everyone thinks Modern Romance is such a great film. It's Brooks at his characters' absolute worst, and not funny save for it being the one time (why????!?!!?!) he featured his brother Super Dave Osbourne/Marty Funkhouser in one of his films.

I will now rank his films in order of my personal preference from top to bottom and yes, you're very welcome!
Lost in America
Defending Your Life
Real Life
Mother
Muse
Modern Romance
