A Friday Thought on John Lennon

It's interesting that Lennon's early solo stuff was so purposefully weird & "out there" by any pop/rock standards of the day (or any day, really); I've never once read or heard him say anything about contemporary music other than anything post-Elvis sucks and the only real rock & roll was in the 1950s. 🤔🤷‍♂️

"But Xmastime", you say in the voice of Craig “Ironhead” Heyward from those soap commercials (RIP), “didn't you once tell everybody that it's also of note that it was McCartney, who spent a lot of time before Revolver dicking around with tape loops he made from tapes of such avant-garde stuff as Stockhausen while Lennon laid on his couch getting fat in wedded suburban bliss, who led the way to the innovative, psychedelic hypersonic musical leap the album provided, that mythology will have you believe Lennon sat around coming up with weird, trippy stuff while McCartney whistled How Much for the Doggie in the Window? over and over?"

Sigh. Yes I did, faithful readers, YES I did.
