I mean tbh I didn't even really know they made music videos any more much less had Grammy's for them, but apparently The Beatles' I'm Only Sleeping, from the incredible 2022 Revolver box set, has just won the Grammy for Best New Video. Of course you wanna roll your beady little eyes at the idea of a video for a song 58 years after it was released, but the actual production of it sounds pretty incredible:
The video is a visual exploration of the space between dreaming and wakefulness, set to the 2022 audio mix, and was created with oil painted celluloid frames.
Em Cooper, the director of the animated music video, spoke to Animation World about the making of the promo and the painstaking process of painting 1300+ film cells individually.
Sounds akin to the remarkable Van Gogh film from 2017 which I loooooooooooved.
