How come when we ask someone to put a horseshoe on a horse we say "this horse needs to be shod"; meanwhile horses are pretty famous for being shot whenever there's anything wrong with them, so aren't we just setting horses up for this:
JIM: "Hey Rick, good to see you & Ol’ Moses, how's he been doing?"
RICK: "Jim I'll tell you the truth, this old horse really needs to be shod."
(Jim pulls out pistol and shoots Old Moses dead.)
I mean why of all words would we make these two so similar-sounding? 🤔🤷♂️
