If Joey Ramone hadn't tragically died at only 49, would he eventually have done a "Joey Ramone sings the American songbook" thing like Rod Stewart? I mean idiots who have bad ears will tell you "his voice was weird" but I don't think anybody in the 1980s was sitting around wondering when they were gonna get a collection of American classics sung by Rod Stewart's scratchy-ass voice AND OH you know who else thought Joey Ramone was one of the greatest singers on the planet? PHIL SPECTOR and that motherfucker has better ears than most people if you dug 'em up right now outta the goddam ground.
