I’ve been screaming for years to “beware the bored billionaire”, and now it's almost hard to imagine a scenario too far in the future in which it's even remotely plausible for a non-billionaire to run for president.
Meanwhile, in the beginning of the Space Program astronauts were chosen as if to be the greatest of men among men, maybe not even mere mortals. It didn’t matter where they came from or how much money they had, they were chosen because they were believed to be the best at the job after enduring years of incredibly vigorous mental & physical testing & training.
Today, I see this:
And I just feel like it's the moment the once-hallowed position of being an astronaut, just like the once-immeasurable sacred duty of being the president of the United States, was officially boiled down “if you’re rich af you can just stroll right on in.” 🤔🤷♂️
