This is hilarious purely as a sight gag & doesn't need to be more, but it's also a stark reminder of Rodney's frustration with Del suffocating him when he's tried to fly solo; of course the opposite we learned is also true, that the reason Del Boy had so many engagements without ever actually getting married was because of his having to take care of Rodney as a little boy.
