1963 Was Helluva Time + One of the Greatest Coincidences in Music History

I can't remember a time I didn't know who Helen Shapiro was but it was only ever in context with The Beatles, who supported her on tour in 1963 right before Beatlemania changed the world.

So I was pleasantly surprised after stumbling into this song that I actually like it!

But that's kind of icing on the cake compared to:

1) watching John try to crack her up (just his eyebrows from the side are funnier than 99% of people) is sweet foreshadowing to 4 years later, when they were the biggest band ever doing a live performance of their new single All You Need is Love for 700 million people watching worldwide on Our World, the first live multinational multi-satellite television production, and Paul kept trying to catch John's eye to make him crack up.

2) when Ringo swoops in on her neck I legit thought he was gonna try to give her a hickey

3) George's turn was rather startling, you don't expect to see someone hit a 17 year-old girl in the face on live tv but nobody seems surprised, so I moved on to being more surprised how eager George seemed to be to get his dance groove on.

4) most remarkable of all is the missing Beatle, who was next door judging a dance contest on Ready, Steady, Go!, where he picked a girl named Melanie Coe as the winner. Four years later he opened up the Daily Mail & read a story about a girl who'd run away from her parents and was inspired to write superslice of superslices She's Leaving Home for the Sgt. Pepper album, and it turns out that girl was...Melanie Coe. ðŸ˜®ðŸ˜³ðŸ¤¯ðŸ¤¯ðŸ¤¯ Read the whole crazy story AND see the actual video of Paul meeting her in 1963 (because the internet is insane).

Meanwhile enjoy the song, I know I am!🕺
