Happy Birthday to the Chicken Tender

Apparently the chicken tender turns 50 years old today and was invented in Manchester, N.H. according to Manchester, N.H.; earlier in this article the author performs a bit of an artistic flourish:

Today, the chicken tender is not just familiar. It is triumphant.
but then later reveals the true magic of the chicken tender:

One trait of the chicken tender that seems to have very little to do with its success, though, is flavor. On its own, without marinades or sauces, it has almost none. It is a piece of protein so mild it won’t offend anybody, although that, come to think of it, may be what has allowed it to come so far.

And yes, I thought they were at least as old as 1965.
