It's Alright, Xmastime (I'm Only Bleeding)

I'm what I'd call a low-to-low-mid Bob Dylan fan, I like his first six albums and then I skip on to Blood on the Tracks and then I couldn't care less about his other 89,000 albums. It makes sense since I've always been a music-first guy and Dylan is the exact opposite of that; my favorite songs of his are mostly the same ones we all love, and I'd wager a guess that the reason they're on the radio more than his others is that they just happen to be the most tuneful/melodic versions of what a "normal" super-wordy Dylan "story" song would sound like. Of course I have a lot of respect for Dylan, but my days of digging in on his canon are long gone.

Meanwhile, I've never really taken Simon & Garfunkel too seriously for some reason; other than their incredible Bridge Over Troubled Water album I'm fine with the greatest hits. 🤔🤷‍♂️

So even I'm a little surprised to realize that if I put my 5 favorite Dylan songs up against my 5 favorite Paul Simon sounds, Paul Simon wins:

SIMON
The Boxer
Bridge Over Troubled Water
Homeward Bound
Only Living Boy in New York
America
DYLAN
Like a Rolling Stone
Tangled Up in Blue
Chimes of Freedom
It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)
Idiot Wind
Even with Like a Rolling Stone arguably being the greatest song of all time, I'd rank Paul Simon's collection of 5 songs here above Dylan's.
