People Need to Listen to Me More

1) I've long said Trump is like a toddler constantly trying to run into oncoming traffic who then spends all his time being furious at the adults who grabbed him & pulled him back to safety; IMAGINE what would've happened if they'd let him live out his own impulses vis-a-vis shooting protesters, or if the mob on January 6 had actually hung Mike Pence, and on & on & on. All of the terrible things Trump thirsts for that haven't happened have all been deterred somehow against his wishes.

2) Much like Trump the toddler but with a small bit of self-awareness, Republicans know that if their own ideas actually get out there people will find out they're terrible in ways that make their lives worse to the point that they'll have to make Republicans pay a price politically; I've always said that if their abortion bluff ever gets called they're gonna be like Wile E. Coyote catching the Roadrunner, and now a lot of them are panicking it'll cost them their own elections.

3) Meanwhile Republicans know that if they let Democratic policies happen, people may learn that they like those policies, which is both why Republicans fought so hard against Obamacare and why they've finally given up to the point that we'll soon see more & more of them start to take credit for Obamacare because so many of their constituents have discovered they like Obamacare.

All of this is an addendum to my thoughts yesterday re: we'll never get out of this national political rut we're in until we let the winners of elections actually get to do some of the stuff they want to do. As long as we demand the minority always be on equal footing with the majority, the good policies of the majority will never be allowed to have a chance at succeeding and the bad policies of the minority will never have a light shone on how absurdly terrible they'd be to people if actually enacted.

After all, everybody always loves the backup quarterback until he has to actually play in the game.
